Prayer

Call To Worship (Based on Psalm 84:1-7 & Jeremiah 14:7-10, 19-22)

Leader: Although our sins testify against us, O LORD, for Your name’s sake, come to us and help us. We acknowledge our sin and the sin of our ancestors.

People: Yet save us for Your own glory. Change our hearts, O God, and purify us. You alone can save us!

Leader: We have gathered to worship You, even though we are unworthy. We focus not on ourselves, but rather on You.

People: In Your presence there is comfort, and there is peace. When we seek Your heart and worship You, we find assurance of Your grace and mercy, of love and hope found only in You.

Leader: So we have longed to worship You, and give thanks for the blessing to gather as a family, as a community of faith, and lift Your name in praise!

Opening Prayer (Based on Psalm 65, Joel 2:23-32 & 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18)

Leader: Good and gracious God, Hope of the world, You promise to pour out Your Spirit upon us. Give us strength to serve You and make us humble so that we will live for Your glory alone.

People: You alone have the words of life, so to whom else should we go? By Your Spirit, make Yourself known to us in the reading and preaching of Your Word, so that we might be faithful witnesses in this life just as the Samaritan woman who witnessed to the people of her town that Jesus is LORD.

Leader: We intercede for the world around us: we pray for an end to violence, especially between nations. We seek Your protection and help for refugees and victims of natural disasters. For those in poverty or homeless, we ask for Your wisdom and guidance so that the church may work in ways that help them rather than continue perpetuating cycles of brokenness. For those who are lost, lonely, and burdened, use us to extend hearts of love and words of the gospel that bring healing and wholeness.

People: No words can truly express the depth of our need or the extent of our sin. But You know us completely, and have come to rescue us and save us from sin, from ourselves, and from the brokenness of this world. Forgive us, and help us to be transparent before You and before one another.

Leader: The news of the gospel is so good, it’s hard to believe, but it is true! God does not hold our sin against us but pours out abundant grace, so give thanks to God and by the Spirit’s power, share the gospel far and wide: in Jesus, we are forgiven!

People: Thanks be to God! In Christ we pray, Amen.

Benediction

Leader: LORD, how can we thank You for such wondrous love? You have covered us with blessing and sustained us with hope.

People: Most of all, You have given us Your very self for our life and the life of the world. So in gratitude we have brought our tithes and offerings, our prayers and our praise.

Leader: And now we respond to Your call, for our worship does not end in this place and at this time. No, You send us out to testify, to heal, to serve, to bring Your justice and compassion to all whom we meet. So we join Jesus on this journey in Your Kingdom mission and invite others to join us as well. May God be glorified in all we say and do.

People: We go in peace to love and serve.  Amen.
